I live on the Otago Peninsula, Dunedin, New Zealand with wife Clare, who is a keen bee keeper and loves honey. We now have a black Miniature Poodle boy 2 years old.  Full of beans and very bright, hates bees.
The aim of keeping bees is that they are happy and healthy, and bring in lots of honey both to help them get through the winter, and to provide a surplus for us to harvest, sell and give away to friends. All the hives are on the Peninsula.
I have started to rear queens, and make small and normal size hives to help new bee keepers get started. And I am doing quite a lot of teaching.
