I live on the Otago Peninsula, Dunedin, New Zealand with wife Clare, who is a keen bee keeper and loves honey. We have one large Maine Coon cat (Flash) who ignores the bees, and the bees ignore him.

The aim of keeping bees is that they are happy and healthy, and bring in lots of honey both to help them get through the winter, and to provide a surplus for us to harvest, sell and give away to friends. All the hives are on the Peninsula.

I have started to rear queens, and make small and normal size hives to help new bee keepers get started. And I am doing quite a lot of teaching.
